You will be aware that the government have requested schools to consider reopening for pupils in Nursery, Reception, Y1 and Y6.
As you can appreciate, in order to minimise risk of infection and maintain government guidance on hygiene and social distancing (including for 3-6 year-olds), this presents significant logistical challenges for us at Kingsley. We are seeking medical advice and working very closely with the Trust and the unions, who themselves are lobbying the government to reconsider. It is, therefore, possible that details may change ahead of our planned re-opening on June 4th.
As I have already stated, it is entirely your decision to send your children to school and, if you chose to keep them at home (where they will be safer), this will NOT affect their attendance record. We will also continue to provide work for pupils on line.
In order for us to plan effectively, reduce the likelihood of infection and maintain appropriate standards of hygiene, we will need to know the exact number of pupils who will be attending. I must also advise you that it is unlikely that your children will be taught by their normal teacher. Family groups may be kept together in the same class to minimise infection, too.
I would be grateful if parents of Nursery, Reception, Y1 and Y6 would complete this form to indicate whether they would or would not like their children to attend school. The deadline for completion is Wednesday 20/05/20 at midday – after this we cannot admit any more pupils. When we know the final number of pupils attending, I will communicate further information.
Pupils who are already attending school (children of critical workers and vulnerable pupils) will continue as normal and DO NOT need to complete the form.
It’s also possible that we’ll provide some educational experience for the remaining year groups before the summer holiday.
Many thanks for your cooperation during these unprecedented and challenging times and if you have any questions, please contact the school office.
With very best wishes,
Head of School
